Minutes

Felecia Jones, our temporary Chairperson, opened the meeting with a discussion about our only 2nd year Webelo.  Mr. Lyles stated that BS Council would not allow boys to enter Boy Scouts until the age of 10 1/2.  The committee decided that the boy should attend the 1st year Webelos meeting until March of 2007.  He will then bridge over to Boy Scouts.  It was also decided that if any boy arrives late to a scout meeting, he might not get advancement credit for those items missed during his absence. The scout must arrive at the Overstreet Scouthouse after the Cub scouts are dismissed.  Troop 862 is responsible for every scout's safety from the time he arrives at the scout meetings until he is picked up from the scout meetings.

Grant and Connor are doing a great job as Den Chief.  But with the current influx of new scouts, especially in the Bear and Webelos den, there is a need for additional Den Chiefs.  Mr. Lyles suggested Matt and Wayne return as Den Chiefs.

After purchasing the trailer this summer, paying  for summer camp and upgrading our tents, our checking account is in need of replenishment.  Felecia will type up a letter for committee approval that will go out to each family of the Boy Scouts.  The letter will politely request payment be made by those scout families who have yet to pay for this year's summer camp.  The letter will also suggest that families begin to pay for next year's summer camp.  Joe stated that the 2007 summer camp will not take place at Saunders, thus the expected cost will be $250 per scout.  Yearly scout registration costs will also be mentioned in the letter.
Suggested fundraisers are:

Peanuts (November)
Pushing Carts (December)
Speghetti Dinner (February)
Donuts (January)

Everyone who has seen the new web site is impressed.  Thanks Wayne!  Our goal now is to get the word out so that scouting families utilize the site.  Shari suggested that we hyperlink our site to the council site.

The committe also decided that future meetings will be limited to 30 minutes, unless special topics need to be discussed.  After the meeting, Boards of Review for those scouts that have requested review will be held.  These requests must be initiated by the boy, and the commitee will make the effort to accomodate the boy.
